Anda ingin mendesain sebuah mesin atau struktur? ingin memastikan bahwa mesin atau struktur yang anda buat memiliki kekuatan yang cukup sehingga aman, atau memastikan tidak terlalu berat dan membutuhkan banyak biaya untuk bahan pembuatanya? Atau bahkan meramalkan getaran yang mungkin terjadi pada mesin tersebut nantinya?

Tanpa perlu repot-repot menggunakan pengujian fisik yang terlalu mahal ataupun melakukan perhitungan analitik yang rumit dan memakan banyak waktu dan pikiran, hal ini dapat dilakukan dengan mudah menggunakan simulasi komputer yaitu menggunakan metode analisis elemen hingga atau Finite Element Analysis (FEA) biasa juga disebut Finite Element Method (FEM).

Tidak hanya kekuatan struktur, simulasi menggunakan FEA juga memungkinkan untuk menganalisa frekuensi natural getaran mesin (modal anlysis), defleksi mesin atau struktur akibat beban, simulasi pembebanan dinamis bahkan hingga ke efek magnetisme, listrik statis dan pemanasan.
